However it is also the survivor of a fire that ravaged one of my distributors warehouses. The items inside the package are perfectly fine, new condition. The outside of the package is soot stained. (which you will probably throw away anyway) Being able to make a fire in a survival situation can save your life.  This fire starter was created by Solo Scientific Inc in the USA to be used to start your campfires. Their goal was to design and manufacture the best all-around survival fire starter in the world…and they have done it! Aerospace quality, the Aurora Fire Starter is a true survival tool and will work in any environment that will support life.  Lightweight and designed for outdoor adventurers and pilots who like to be prepared, this fire starter will light a lifetime of campfires for most users. The Aurora fire starter is rugged and designed for survival. It uses a large 1/4″ diameter composite flint steel rod that has magnesium built into it. The built in striking blade could be a lifesaver! You can carry this fire starter on your key ring, or around your neck on a lanyard and if your ever separated from your pack or knife, you have everything you need to start a fire. The built in striking blade takes off enough material to start a fire, but will not cause excessive wear. It can be flipped over to reveal a fresh striking surface (it will yield thousands of strikes before needing to be flipped.) or be sharpened if dulled. The built in striking blade is part of the unit and will not get caught on equipment, break off, rattle like other fire starters that have a blade hanging from a string. It is designed to function wet or dry, is machined from solid, lightweight aircraft aluminum (no plastic), is knurled for grip and will not break when you need it most. The o-ring seal helps prevent the housing from unscrewing and provides protection from corrosion in salt water environments.
