These fly tying birds are the genuine Genetic Hackle Fowl that produce dry fly capes and hackles, NOT the counterfeit birds advertised by hatcheries (like McMurray) under the title of fly tying roosters. THOSE birds only produce wet flies amd have not had genetic selection for the needed qualities fly tiers desire… The chickens I have for sale are True Genetic Hackle fowl produced over many generations since before the turn of last century. These lines are directly out of Conranch lines, going back to Darbee & Herbert Miner., the fly -tying pioneers. Genetic Hackle Fowl are a premium sold only as skins and feathers by Whiting and Metz– NEVER as live birds or chicks. Bloodlines are a jealously- kept secret. as well as a monopoly. My birds have excellent saddle /Cape Hackle length, depth of color, and density, with no twist feathers on a vise. The red Barred Gingers are flashy, gorgeous birds, one step away from producing Creel color. They are a highly- sought after color. If you enlarge the photos you can see the markings. My flock has produced several unique colors. As my other breeding trios start to lay I will have their eggs available as well.
